A GENERATION OF LEADERShip

We have over 16,000 Alumni around the world.

They are former national and international volunteers, interns, staff members and all those committed individuals who have supported us in the last 25 years.

These Alumni are central to Restless Development, and will be even more critical to achieving our mission over the next 5 years. With the launch of our new 2011-15 Global Strategy we have committed to create a 'Generation of Leadership' which will embody our youth-led values and principles.

We will do this by providing tangible support to Alumni to help them progress in their careers and make a positive impact in their communities and countries. We will build a global network connecting Restless Development Alumni across the world. And we will seek their advice on our work on the ground as well as on strategic choices.

 

Alumni Committee

 

After a thorough selection process, Restless Development’s Alumni Committee is finally up and running. Claire, Simon, Laura, Jenny and Mora are full of enthusiasm and are already working hard to offer Restless Development Alumni exciting events and activities in the coming months. They work closely with Restless Development to input into the Alumni strategy and support its delivery.

Simon - Training & Capacity Building Advisor - Leads on career mentoring, coaching, and professional skills training:

Simon, who volunteered in Nepal in 2002/03, has an aspiration for the Alumni network. He wants “to reconnect, reinspire and reignite alumni's interest in the youth led international development sector and to aid them in becoming a generation of leaders." If you want to become a mentor, be mentored, or train other Alumni, get in touch with Simon.

 

Laura - Marketing & Social Media Advisor - supports the Alumni Network online presence:

Laura, volunteer in Nepal and the UK, has an aspiration for Restless Development’s Alumni network: “to create a unique social network where alumni can build on their personal development through sharing experiences and knowledge. I’m sure everyone’s personal experiences with Restless Development have been hugely rewarding – the alumni association can offer a lifelong extension to those experiences!” If you want to hear more about Alumni social media presence, email Laura.

 

Jenny - Public Engagement Advisor - is in charge of designing and promoting Alumni engagement activities:

Jenny, recently returned from her placement in Zambia in 2010, has a message for all Restless Development Alumni: “any alumni out there who find themselves reflecting on their Restless Development memories – now is a great time to get in touch and get involved!” Get in touch with Jenny to know all about ways of reconnecting with us and your fellow volunteers!

 

Mora - Communications Advisor - is responsible for supporting the communication strategy and the development of high profile case studies:

Mora volunteered in Nepal in 1997/98. She says “I feel deeply connected to the work of Restless Development, which has strongly shaped my career path, aspirations and my outlook on the world since I volunteered back in 1997-8. I think Restless Development has an extraordinary amount of potential to transform lives, in creative and positive ways, and I want to put in all the help that I can to get their ambitions off the ground and fully realised; as a model to be replicated and expanded around the world.” Email Mora if you want to share your story with other Alumni.

 

Claire - Fundraising Advisor - leads on planning a menu of engagement events and campaigns for Alumni:

Claire, volunteer in Tanzania, says “Seeing the online alumni network come together I saw the amazing capacity the alumni of Restless Development hold. Stay Connected

We've launched a pioneering online network that connects our Alumni worldwide.

The network, a platform for professional and personal development, provides all those connected with Restless Development a unique opportunity to get to know each other's stories and access one another's career advice and support.

Based on a series of professional interviews and an online networking site designed just for us, the Alumni Network is a fantastic chance for Restless Development former volunteers, interns, staff and supporters worldwide to stay connected and make the most of this global community.
