World AIDS Day - 1st DECEMBER!

December the 1st is World AIDS Day, 30 years since the first case was identified. 30 million people have died as a result of AIDS since then and young people account for half of all new infections, that's approximately 3 million a year. Here at Restless Development we want to see that figure reduced and eventually eradicated and you can help us on the 1st December by getting involved in some of our online activities!

The Big Event in Chennai

On 3 December at Poonamallee on the outskirts of Chennai 500 students from four districts across Tamil Nadu – Vellore, Chennai, Thiruvallar and Kanchipuram – will gather for the Big Event. The aim of the day is to raise awareness for HIV and will take place in 30 countries.

Employment Advice Given to over 3000 Students

On 17 and 18 November 2011 Restless Development Zambia assisted in a career expo by providing employment advice to over 3000 school students. 8 expert alumni gave information and advice on a range of topics including Career topics and advice and Rosemary Zulu ran a breakout session entitled 'Becoming Financially Fit.'

The event was the first in a series of discussions on advocacy and development organised by the London International Development Centre (LIDC) and ONE.

HRH visits Restless Development in Sierra Leone

10 members of the Youth Action Club based at Tom Linson High School in Makiteh, Port Loko, were among the privileged group of Restless Development volunteers and staff who met Princess Anne during a state visit to Sierra Leone last week. The Princess was on a week long tour of West Africa taking in Sierra Leone and Ghana. As a recipient of DFID funding, Restless Development was approached by the British High Commission to showcase some of our peer-to-peer education techniques promoting youth sexual and reproductive health. Six drama volunteers performed a ten minute skit exploring some of the causes and consequences of teenage pregnancy. Following this, the Princess circulated around the room talking to groups of staff, volunteers and students about their experiences and their work.
