Team

Restless Development proudly presents the team that is taking on the highest free standing mountain in the world:

David Merritt

David Merritt

David was a volunteer for Restless Development in Tanzania in 1997, when he first climbed Kilimanjaro with a team of his students. He wants to prove he can still do it after 10 years working for Bloomberg, where he currently runs the coverage of European stock markets. He also wants to impress his one-year-old son Jake, though this may be harder. Most importantly though, he knows from first hand that Restless Development's work can transform lives and communities and he wants to do all he can to help it reach yet more young people in the developing world.

Nick Hall

Nick Hall

Nick seriously considered climbing up Kilimanjaro a couple of years ago, but for a number of reasons (mainly due to searching for a career after university!) the trip did not materialise. Yet after joining Tesco as Assistant Buyer in 2009, he was presented with the opportunity to fulfill this very challenge, and jumped at it! He completed the London Marathon in 2009 and is very much looking forward to the physical test of the trek as well as the challenge of raising as much money as possible for Restless Development.

Oliver Kaye

Oliver Kaye

Oliver Kaye has been working at Tesco for the last six months as Head of Retail Operations for Europe - prior to this he spent two years living and working in India as the Country Manager for Calvin Klein.  When not travelling with work, he lives in North London and spends his time at museums, art galleries and socializing. Trekking to the summit of Kilimanjaro has been a goal of Oliver’s for several years – he says that the fact that he can raise money for such a great charity at the same time only inspires him more to achieve this difficult challenge.  He is especially looking forward to seeing all the hard work that Restless Development does in Tanzania before the trek commences.

Tiffany Brest

Tiffany Brest

Tiffany is an Intern Psychologist at the Smile Foundation (an NGO that provides surgeries for children with facial and limb anomalies) and is also a counsellor at SHARP Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centre. It has always been a dream of hers to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro but she never quite expected to do it. This has been the perfect opportunity to do so she’s happy to be doing it for such a great cause. She is supporting Restless Development as she believes it is greatly important to impart knowledge and skills to those who may not otherwise have had the opportunity to better their lives and the lives of their communities.

Ricky Zinn

Ricky Zinn

Ricky is currently a Plastic surgery resident in Johannesburg, South Africa.  He grew up in Cape Town and moved to Jo'burg in 2005 in order to specialise.  He enjoys the outdoors, hiking, surfing and mountain biking.  He had just completed a five day hike, the famous Otter Trail, when his brother, Daniel messaged him. He said 'Do you want to do Kilimanjaro for a good cause ?’ So Ricky said, 'Why not?’

Kate Barry

Kate Barry

Kate is the International Corporate and Individual Fundraising Manager for Restless Development. Kate is taking on Kilimanjaro to prove that what might appear to be impossible – Kate Barry on the top of Kili – is actually possible with determination and a lot of much needed support! Mt Kili is going to be more than just a challenge for her (possibly more like certain death, she says) but she’s excited to have this opportunity to raise funds for young people and bring them to the forefront of development.

Andrew Boyle

Andrew Boyle

Andy says that he’s climbing Kili for his two children (aged 2 and 4) and the millions of young people around the world. First and foremost he wants to support the young people of the world who will shape its future once “old folk” like him stop messing it up. Secondly he wants to fulfill a personal challenge and in the process get fitter so that he can keep up with both of his kids and watch them grow into well rounded adults.

Eric Levine

Eric Levine

Eric is the Chief Executive of Restless Development. He will be turning 36 years old the day before the team attempts to get to the summit in freezing temperatures – hopefully the birthday candles will stay lit in high altitude! And with a bit of luck, he will be safely and smoothly back down the other side and celebrating in warm weather with a Tanzanian beer in hand by the 17th of October. Eric says ‘It’s a big challenge, a great cause and your generous support is very much appreciated."
